2. Principle
Zeodration is a dehydration technique based on the combined use of vacuum evaporation (with a moderate input of thermal energy) or sublimation with the use of zeolites whose small pores adsorb the water vapor emitted by the product during evaporation.
The adsorption mechanism is based on the highly polar surface of zeolite pores (i.e. the bonds are very low-energy). This unique feature (highly polar surfaces) distinguishes zeolites from other adsorbents on the market, and gives them a high adsorption capacity for water or other polar components.
