8. Energy control
Under current regulations, glazing with a high solar factor g and a low U g coefficient will be preferred (RT 2005 and RT 2012 thermal regulations).
In winter, and especially in summer when the sun is shining brightly, this sometimes results in a significant rise in indoor temperature, leading to unbearable conditions.
Remember that :
a low solar factor g is advantageous in summer (reduced effect of the sun);
a low U g coefficient will be of interest in winter (less heat loss).
