Distributed computing; Calcul distribué

Distributed, or shared, computing is the act of distributing a calculation or processing task to several microprocessors, or more generally to any central computing unit. Distributed computing is often performed on specialized computing clusters, but can also be performed on individual computer stations with multiple cores. Distributed computing is an area of research in the mathematical and computer sciences. In particular, it involves the notion of parallel computing.
