2. Thermal insulation objectives
The use of thermal insulation can serve multiple, sometimes cumulative, objectives, such as reducing heat loss through a wall, containing heat to limit the risk of wall burns, or maintaining a product under controlled temperature and pressure conditions.
2.1 Conserving thermal energy
Since the 1970s and the rise in energy costs, limiting heat loss through high-performance insulation has become a major challenge for limiting primary energy consumption.
The use of thermal insulation conserves the thermal energy produced, whether to guarantee a level of comfort for building occupants in all conditions (summer/winter), or to ensure maximum transport and transmission of heat within an industrial production process.
