2. Administrative tribunal

2.1 Features

There are 42 administrative courts in France (at least one in each region).

Established in 1953, they are interdepartmental (for example, the Lyon TA has jurisdiction over the Ain, Ardèche, Loire and Rhône departments).

They consist of one to seventeen rooms, each with :

  • a chairman ;

  • a public rapporteur (to give an opinion) ;

  • two or three members.

Nota

there are special provisions for overseas territories, New Caledonia, Polynesia and the Wallis and Futuna Islands (see art. L. 223 to 225 – L. 781.1 and R 223 to R. 225 – R. 781.)....
