2.1 Redox

The aim of redox waste treatment is to transform pollutants:

or in a form that is less harmful to the environment and can be discharged into the natural environment:
- when cyanides or organic molecules are oxidized: cyanide ions CN ^- are thus oxidized into less dangerous cyanate ions CNO ^- :
  ${CN}^{-} + {ClO}^{-} \to {Cl}^{-} + {CNO}^{-}$
