This section, devoted to lessons for delimiting boundaries in the case of an LCA for end-of-life product recovery, was written by Magali Palluau, an expert in environmental assessment, and Charlotte Hugrel, an LCA expert with a PhD in waste management and treatment.
A number of important choices have been made in defining the boundaries for conducting LCA work on ELT recovery. In particular, these choices concern the delimitation of upstream and downstream boundaries, and the identification of traditional routes for the substitution of recovered ELT materials.
