Seveso directive
Generic name for a series of European directives requiring EU member states to identify industrial sites presenting major accident hazards, known as "Seveso sites", and to maintain a high level of prevention. The directive takes its name from the Seveso disaster in Italy in 1976, which prompted European states to adopt a common policy on the prevention of major industrial hazards.
ecotoxicity
Identifies the toxicity of a substance to the living environment. Toxicity may be local or limited to an ecosystem. In ecotoxicology, the potential for ecotoxicity is calculated at the level of ecosystem quality, then transposed and reported per kg of equivalent substance.
