3. Notion of treatment channel

The emission to be treated should be considered as a complex, more or less diluted mixture of aerosol particles and molecules with very different physico-chemical and biological properties.

For example, wet air emissions can contain dust, grease, heavy metals and VOCs. In such cases, it is advisable to set up not just a single treatment, but a process comprising both pre- and post-treatment. This concept is identical to that used to design and build water purification plants or wastewater treatment plants.
