5. Conclusions and outlook

This study therefore provided an overview of the performance of the main commercial products for the main families of odor compounds, and revealed certain aspects of their modes of action. Higher efficiencies than water were observed for products recommended for these odor compounds. However, the results were not conclusive for all the compounds targeted for treatment. Only 23% of products proved more effective than mains water. It is also interesting to note that most of the products have a physico-chemical reduction efficiency superior to that of water on at least one odorous compound, but inferior to that of the chemically neutralizing solution for most odorous compounds. In the majority of tests carried out on the test bench, efficiencies were similar to those obtained with water, although some products showed higher efficiencies.
