3. Atmospheric pollutant transfer modeling tools
The effects of air pollution can be perceived at different scales, ranging from the neighborhood or immediate environment of a facility, to a city or industrial site, from a region to a continent. Methods for resolving the atmospheric dispersion of pollutants at these scales are of two types:
on the one hand, experimental methods (tracer simulation on site or on a reduced laboratory scale);
numerical methods.
Although these methods are complementary, numerical modeling has the advantage of being less cumbersome to implement, less costly, faster and, above all, offering the possibility of considering a large number of different situations.
