3. Conclusion

Progress and innovation in medicine have led to the obsolescence of practices, skills, know-how and equipment. Uncontrolled obsolescence can lead to a loss of competitiveness, increased risk to patients and higher maintenance costs. To limit these impacts, it is essential to adopt a structured approach to innovation, by assessing technological needs, investing in R&D, integrating new technologies and continually training healthcare staff. At the same time, maintenance and reuse of obsolete medical equipment remain two key strategies for extending their lifespan and optimizing resources. By combining these approaches, healthcare facilities can overcome the challenges posed by obsolescence and continue to provide quality care to their patients.
