What is general administrative policing?
General administrative policing entrusts an administrative authority with the role of maintaining public order. The mayor is said to have general administrative police powers insofar as, on the territory of his or her municipality, he or she must ensure good order, safety, security and public health (article L. 2212-2 et seq. of the Code général des collectivités territoriales ).
