3. Penalties incurred as a result of criminal liability
Fines and/or imprisonment are the two main penalties:
3.1 In the case of a fine
The penalty is a fine, the amount of which varies according to the class of contravention; there are five classes of contraventions, with the 5th class being the highest (maximum 1,500 euros).
3.2 In the case of a misdemeanor
The penalty is :
a fine of between 3,750 and 500,000 euros;
