5. Summary

The box opposite summarizes the procedure and recommendations for sampling with the new sampling device.

Procedure and recommendations

– Conditioning and evacuation of sample vials using a canister-specific system (e.g. "Cleaner" type). A diaphragm vacuum pump can also be used with acceptable performance.

– Packaged vials can be stored for up to five days. Before sampling, the pressure in the vial must be checked with a manometer.

– Instant sampling is performed by opening the vacuum valve. Additional vials are required for transport and storage.

– SPME pre-concentration is preferably carried out in the laboratory, for better control of conditions and to reduce the number of fibers. Samples should be stored for as short a time as possible (24-48 h)...
