2. Application to certain industries

It is impossible to draw up an exhaustive list of all the uses to which water can be put in a factory; at best, we can try to group them into the following main categories:

  • single component (bottled water), essential (beverages, dialysis, injectable preparations) or significant (many food products) of the finished product;

  • essential agent in manufacturing (e.g., paper mills, textile and dyeing industries, pharmaceuticals, chemicals [23] , etc.);

  • washing of products and equipment (e.g., food processing industries), rinsing of finished products (e.g., electronics industry);

  • boiler fuel supply and heat transport (covered in another article);
