Agroecology

An integrated approach that applies ecological and social concepts and principles to the design and management of food and agricultural systems. It aims to optimize interactions between plants, animals, humans and the environment, without forgetting the social aspects that must be taken into account if a food system is to be sustainable and equitable (according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – FAO).
