2. Ion exchange applications outside water treatment
Water treatment has long been the main application for ion exchange. Today, other applications account for around half the volume of resins produced. Here we review the most significant applications. The types of resins used can be found in table 3 at the end of this article.
One sector where ion exchange is particularly useful is the food industry and sugar production in particular.
