1. Cosmetic food supplements: what the regulations say

There is no regulatory definition of cosmetic foodstuffs.

We can postulate that these are products at the borderline between foodstuffs (regulation 2002/178/EC, directive 2002/46/EC) and cosmetics (directive 76/768/EC).

Note 1:

regulation no. 2002/178/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of January 28, 2002 laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety.

Note 2:

Directive 2002/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of June 10, 2002 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to food supplements.
