Summary

If we consider skin exposure to solid chemicals, and nanoparticles in particular, two types of population are concerned: workers and consumers. Workers are potentially the most exposed, and in this case we speak of occupational exposure, but many efforts are being made in industry to control and minimize exposure risks and protect operators. In the case of consumers, exposure may be linked to the use of certain everyday products, such as sunscreen products, cosmetics, specific fabrics, clothing and underwear, household cleaning products, soaps and household linen.
