7. The drug discovery process
Combinatorial chemistry is a powerful tool, but it may not be very productive if it is not integrated into the drug discovery process. Indeed, as we have seen in the case of peptide chemical libraries, it's not just a question of synthesizing millions of molecules to find the frontrunners. Combinatorial chemistry must therefore be adapted to research programs, based on the observation that the less information we have on the target to be screened, the greater the diversity required for the chemical library and the number of molecules to be synthesized.
