The economics of prefabrication project

The use of prefabrication for the design of certain components can be chosen by a company with the aim of generating savings. However, this technique, which can be interesting in certain cases, is not always the case. That's why, before taking the plunge, it's important to analyze the situation carefully and consider the project as a whole.

In the first section, this article develops the approach to be followed when determining whether or not prefabrication is a source of savings for the project (the project in its entirety, of course). This approach is illustrated by an example that details the cost of construction (dry disbursements and site costs). The requirements of the various players (architects, manufacturers, etc.) involved in the operation must necessarily be taken into account for each stage of construction: an example is developed in the second section of the article.
