5. Structure design
In a timber-frame structure, the horizontal forces applied to the floor are transmitted to the foundations via the vertical bracing elements of the wall elements, but also via the horizontal elements, i.e. the floors and roof. Each individual bracing element, whether vertical or horizontal, therefore contributes to the structure's behavior, depending on its characteristics and the stresses to which it is subjected.
