Tower crane features

Tower cranes fall into two main categories, depending on whether the rotating mechanism is located at the top or bottom of the mast. These types are known respectively as :

• GME: modular tower crane ;

• GMA: automated assembly crane.

The GME crane family includes cranes with jib and counter-jib, including :

• Tie-rod cranes (also known as "cable-stayed" cranes);

• cranes without tie rods (flat top or topless);

• jib cranes, sometimes used on skyscrapers (smaller footprint and smaller working area).
