7. Conclusion

PID control is often sufficient to regulate industrial systems when the desired level of performance is limited. It is suitable for aperiodic systems, but its tuning remains delicate and requires experimental tests to identify the system.

The identification process is the most difficult for the technician responsible for setting the corrector. For systems with long response times, it is advisable to limit the number and complexity of tests to be carried out. Testing is even more delicate when the system has open-loop integration; saturations are easily obtained, and identification requires testing under linear conditions.
