1.1 MMIC applications

MMICs (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) are a family of integrated circuits designed for high-frequency applications. It should be emphasized that the microwave range covers frequencies from a few GHz to a few tens of GHz, but MMICs also include circuits operating well beyond this range, up to a few hundred GHz. These are the millimeter and submillimeter wave ranges.

MMICs from the III-V and silicon technology chains are used in telecommunications, defense and space applications. They are used, for example, as transmit/receive modules for telecoms systems, radars, detection, measurement and observation instruments, in both civilian and military applications.
