2. Recent demonstrations of optical beam-forming technology
Recent work in the field of beam-forming architectures for electronically scanned antennas has focused on the demonstration of several functions combining the ability to achieve high-bandwidth channel formation and the ability to achieve multiple simultaneous beams. In terms of optoelectronic-hyperfrequency technology, research focused on the miniaturization of optical architectures through the integration of optical functions on Si substrates (included in the "photonics on Si" theme), and on new antenna control architectures based on the use of wavelength-division multiplexing and dispersive fibers with chirped Bragg gratings.
