2. Propagation on a two-conductor transmission line

In this section, we propose to study propagation on a two-conductor transmission line. To do this, we make the following assumptions:

  • the line is made up of two cylindrical metal conductors with an Ox axis (there is no flaring or narrowing of the structure);

  • the space between the two conductors is filled by a single homogeneous dielectric, with dielectric constants ε and µ (relative constants: ε r = ε /ε 0 and µ r = µ /µ 0 ) ;

  • propagation along the line is assumed to be TEM (transverse electric-magnetic) (sinusoidal regime), which means that the transverse dimensions of the line are smaller than...
