The aim of this article is to introduce a new methodological approach to the aided design of complex systems, particularly for use in power electronics. Indeed, classical schematics, universally used as a system representation vector, presents intrinsic limitations: generalization, genericity, configuration exploration... In this paper, we present the notion of meta-schema, which will be implemented using the general configuration mechanism.
The standardized VHDL-AMS language offers advanced mechanisms that remain little-known and largely under-utilized. They enable the implementation of meta-schemas and their configuration. After a theoretical presentation, we'll illustrate them with examples.
Once mastered, this approach opens the door to methodological improvements whose beneficial consequences have yet to be fully explored.
Preliminary remark: the source codes, given as examples, have been written in compliance with the current standard. They have been compiled and verified with a commercial industrial tool. Depending on the standard coverage of each of the tools on the market, some examples may not be fully supported or may need to be adapted.
