Resistance to heat and mass transfer is localized near the interface in a gas film. If, for simplicity's sake, we consider a binary mixture, the most volatile component accumulates near the liquid-vapor interface. The variation in concentration of each component near the interface (figure 3) induces diffusion in the direction perpendicular to the flow. For the most volatile compound, noted with index j = 1, we can write
