First and foremost, before applying for a refueling/distribution/storage permit, the project developer must ensure that the natural gas (CNG) or biomethane (BioNGV) used in compressed (CNG) or liquid (LNG) form as a fuel complies with the characteristics specified in the arrêté du 8 décembre 2017. This decree incorporates some of the requirements set out in standard NF EN 16723-2 on the use of gas as a vehicle fuel. Natural gas for vehicles (NGV) is subject to the TICGN Carburant (domestic tax on the consumption of natural gas), defined in article 266 quinquies of Code des douanes. Its value is set at €5.23/MWh, corresponding to €0.075/kg of CNG.
