4. Characteristics of gas-liquid heat exchangers

Absorption performance depends on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the phase flow within the contactors. A number of parameters are required to optimize the sizing of a gas-liquid exchanger.

  • Diameter of inclusions: bubbles (d B ) and drops (d g )

    The diameter of the inclusions (bubbles and drops) depends on the type of gas or liquid dispenser and the physico-chemical properties of the phases involved. Bubble diameter ranges from 1 to 5 mm, with an average value of around 3 to 4 mm for aqueous systems containing no electrolyte. Droplet diameter ranges from 0.4 to 2 mm.
