ABSTRACT
Adsorption on activated carbon is one of the most widely used processes in air treatment. After describing the mechanisms of transfer and adsorption of molecules in a gaseous phase onto a solid surface, adsorbents, and especially activated carbon, are presented. Different technologies are described according to their industrial applications: type of gaseous effluent to be treated (volatile organic compounds, odors, etc.), concentrations and flows. Regeneration methods are also discussed.

INTRODUCTION
Among the technologies available for air and gas treatment and purification, processes involving the transfer and interaction of a compound present in a gas phase with the surface of a porous material are widely used
