As early as 1962, Klesper, Corwin and Turner
used SPC for the separation of non-volatile porphyrins. However, the development of this method was initially overshadowed by that of liquid chromatography (LC), although examples of its use and developments were periodically published. It wasn't until 1982 that interest in SPC was revived, 1988 saw the publication of the first book
