3. Manage the processing of non-compliant products or services
Non-conformity processing can be broken down into two complementary levels:
the fate of the products themselves;
responses to external persons or entities, particularly customers, affected or concerned by the detection of non-conformities.
The treatment of the non-conforming product itself traditionally includes the following alternatives:
carry out corrective actions and touch-ups to bring the product into compliance;
obtain a waiver to allow the product to be used as is;
downgrade the product, if necessary, so that it complies with less stringent requirements (e.g. a product that does not comply with category I, but is acceptable in category II)....
