Every step in risk management is important because a risk can be underestimated, poorly controlled, or simply overlooked if the hazard that causes it has not been identified. However, hazards are diverse and numerous—even countless—and one challenge lies in considering them all. To address this, it is particularly useful to rely on pre-established checklists that minimize oversights. Such checklists exist, but they are often inconsistent and sometimes inadequately tailored, leading to omissions.
Here, we propose a classification into five categories of hazards (Figure 3) that can, in turn, be more easily subdivided to cover the hazardous situations one may encounter, particularly in maintenance.
