2. Description of the French standard
The inventory of technical provisions and documents used to obtain an authorization to put vehicles into commercial operation (AMEC) in France is set out in the Specification d'Admission du Matériel (SAM) X001, drafted by the EPSF (Établissement public de sécurité ferroviare), applicable since March 3, 2014. Compliance with these standards defines the technical specifications that must be taken into account in the design of new or substantially modified rail vehicles intended for use on the national rail network (RFN) and networks with operating characteristics comparable to those of the RFN, in order to presume compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
