INTRODUCTION
One of the reasons why companies are not investing more heavily in services, despite their almost unanimous strategic intent, is that services are by definition more complicated to understand, and often include products themselves. What's more, the ambiguity of roles between the producer and the consumer, co-producer of the result, is often compounded by an ambiguity of roles within the company. This role ambiguity, already present in product design, is exacerbated in the case of services.
