5. Conclusion
It's difficult to make a bet, or to be certain about the evolution of television, and other digital media, into the "3rd dimension" of 3D. But it is certain that the quality of 3D content will be a determining factor. 3D video production cannot tolerate mediocre quality. It has to be beyond reproach, at the risk of causing discomfort and visual discomfort, which can be accompanied by physical discomfort (nausea, headaches, visual disturbances, etc.). There is no comparison with the transition from SD to HD television, where a mediocre-quality HD product will still be "watchable" (the extreme limit being a degradation to SD quality).
