6. Conclusion
Fine airborne particles cause respiratory problems, increase mortality from cancer and respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, and chronic exposure to them is the primary health threat linked to air pollution in France and Europe. Protecting against them is therefore a public health issue. To achieve this, collective action can be taken by improving the efficiency of emission sources (engines, chimneys, etc.) or by equipping them with filters. It is also possible to take action at the individual level, for example, by wearing face masks.
