3. Solid-state shaping of finished parts
Finished parts are produced from the titanium-based semi-finished products. The aim is not only to obtain a shape with dimensions as close as possible to the final dimensions of the part, but also a microstructure that determines the mechanical properties.
For solid parts, we use forging; for thin parts, we use stamping or even superplastic blow-molding or powder metallurgy.
Depending on the end-use properties, the previously manufactured semi-finished products are forged either above the transus (β forging) or below it.
