1. Instruments used in safety laboratories
There are many types of data used in a process safety study. Here are some examples:
enthalpy of reaction ;
enthalpy of secondary reactions ;
mass heat capacity ;
adiabatic temperature rise ;
the temperature of first exotherm ;
adiabatic runaway time; etc.
Measuring these data can require a considerable effort, even though not all these quantities are necessarily useful in all cases. It is therefore important to use a systematic approach that limits the experimental effort to the data required to solve the problem at hand.
