4. Cycle simulation. Single-zone modeling

In single-zone modeling, the pressure, temperature and composition of the charge in the cylinder are assumed to be uniform. This model does not distinguish between burnt and fresh gases. This highlights the major difficulty in characterizing the mixture, since it is considered to be homogeneous. The one-zone model has the advantage of a simpler formulation of mass and heat transfer phenomena. Combustion in these models can be considered as a simple system that receives heat from the outside.
