8.1 Manufacturer's responsibilities
Product safety begins with the choice of raw materials. It is the manufacturer's duty to use only raw materials that present the least possible danger from a physiological point of view.
Examples:
Base oils must be free from polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated terphenyls (PCTs), and have the lowest possible PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) content.
The combination of nitrites and secondary amines (diethanolamine) as a corrosion inhibitor should no longer be used, even for top-up dosing (risk of nitrosamine formation).
