Industrial cage induction motors: manufacturing

Almost all the industrial motors we're talking about use a cast aluminum cage rotor. Wound versions are reserved for a few specific applications (such as the replacement of old machines, or hyper or hyposynchronous cascade applications). In some cases, copper is injected in place of aluminum, often in the case of severe corrosion (submersible pumps), or even bronze for torque motors (resistant cage, highly thermally stressed). Figure 8 shows a complete rotor.
