5. How to select high-performance technical components for an air-handling and air-conditioning system?
When designing and building a new installation, pay close attention to the stated energy performance of the main system components. Some components and systems are regulated by the European ErP directive, which imposes minimum efficiency values.
For chillers (liquid chillers) or multisplit systems, energy performance is identified by the EER or SEER parameter. The seasonal energy efficiency ratio in cooling mode – SEER in kWh/year – represents the reference annual cooling demand by the annual electricity consumption for the cooling function. A classification from A to E has been set up, and documentation on the performance of this equipment is available on the websites of certifying bodies (e.g.
Eurovent
).
