Through successive humidification/dehumidification operations, the air temperature can be lowered before it is blown into the room.

During this process, no refrigeration production equipment is used; cooling in this process is provided by evaporation of water into the air. Energy savings are estimated at between 60% and 80% compared with conventional air-conditioning systems. However, these energy savings are highly dependent on the humidity and temperature levels of the ambient air outside the building.
