2. Two-stage refrigeration cycle
Such a cycle develops between three pressure levels pC > pi > pF to which correspond three refrigerant saturation temperature levels qC > qi > qF (figure 2) where pi and qi are the intermediate saturation pressure and temperature respectively.
The low-pressure compressor compresses the refrigerant from pF to pi, the high-pressure compressor compresses it from pi to pC:
