Thermal decomposition of an ionic liquid

It can be assumed that when the two liquids come into contact, reactions occur in both the liquid and gas phases. These reactions, some of which are endothermic, some exothermic, and all of which are exothermic overall, lead to heating of the phases, resulting, among other things, in vaporization of the ionic liquid, the oxidant and the molecules resulting from the reactivity between the IL and the oxidant. This mixture, in the gas phase, continues to react until the temperature reached leads locally to self-ignition and then combustion. Thermal effects likely to induce the so-called thermal decomposition of the ionic liquid are therefore of interest.
