This article gives the definitions and basic theorems needed to deal with the various problems of two-phase flow. The formalism used requires, for its understanding, the notions explained in the article Fluid Mechanics. of this treaty.

Applications to gas-liquid mixtures and fluid-solid mixtures (suspensions) can be found in the following articles.
